Fine Art Sculptor

Meet Pauline, Bronze Sculpture Artist

As a Fine Art Sculptor, my work is a true reflection of my lifelong fascination with form, movement and the natural world. I am Pauline Sinclair Walden, the artist behind Phaedra Fine Art, based in Eastbourne and sharing my sculptures with collectors across the UK and beyond.

Celebrating Life Through Contemporary British Bronze Sculpture

Inspired by both classical and modern influences, I specialise in contemporary bronze animal and figurative pieces that celebrate life in all its grace and energy. Whether you are an art enthusiast, an animal lover, or someone seeking something truly distinctive, my work offers an original perspective in the world of British bronze art.

Pauline's Artistic Journey

My journey as a fine art sculptor began not with sculpture, but with painting. From my earliest memories, creativity has been at the heart of who I am. As a young woman and throughout early adulthood, the canvas was my medium for exploring colour, movement and emotion. While my early artworks brought me joy and recognition, I always sensed there were forms I hadn't yet discovered. My self-taught path nurtured both a deep independence and a willingness to experiment, leading me to later unexpected places in my creative life.

Discovering Sculpture Later in Life

It was not until my mid-50s that I first discovered the power and satisfaction of sculpting in three dimensions. Working initially with clay, I experienced a revelation: the tactile freedom and creative adventure of sculpting opened up a new world, reigniting my artistic passion. With each sculpture, I stretched my understanding further. In my late 80s, I began focusing on animal sculptures, proving to myself and to others that creativity is not bound by age.

As a fine art sculptor I believe that inspiration can strike at any stage of life, and my journey is testament to the boundless nature of artistic exploration.

From Figurative Work to Wildlife Sculpture

My early years as a sculptor were devoted to the female form. I invested hours in studying anatomy and posture, capturing fluidity of movement and poetic strength in each piece. This figurative grounding shaped my sensibility as a contemporary British artist, giving me the technical insight to understand balance and structure. Later, with renewed curiosity, I moved to wildlife sculpture, inspired by the elegance and dynamism of animals. My first animal sculpture, the cheetah, marked a significant turning point, fusing my understanding of anatomy with the wild energy of the natural world. This journey is central to who I am as a British Bronze Artist.

Working With Bronze & The Foundry Partnership

Every sculpture at Phaedra Fine Art begins in my Eastbourne studio as a clay model. Through a close collaboration with expert foundry craftsmen, each figure is cast using the lost wax technique, ensuring a genuine foundry bronze and remarkable detail. I am dedicated to the traditional methods that distinguish fine art sculpture, the careful finishing, subtle patination, and final touches that bring each piece to life. Working in bronze allows me to capture both strength and delicacy, and I take particular pride in producing limited-edition pieces, usually in exclusive sets of twelve, each one authenticated and lovingly finished.

Values and Legacy

My commitment extends beyond the creation of art. Through Phaedra Fine Art, I donate 10% of my profits to animal charities. This allows each sale to contribute to causes that inspire my work, adding depth and legacy to every bronze sculpture I create.
